Healing & Beyond

INTEGRAL EYE MOVEMENT THERAPY

Does it sometimes happen to you that a situation calls out emotions in you that are much stronger than you might expect from such a situation? Or that you feel the same way when you remember an incident as if it happened to you right now?

The brain sometimes stores emotions and evokes them as soon as you encounter a similar situation.

IEMT is a therapy that uses eye movements to reach brain parts where old emotions have been stored. After the IEMT treatment you will experience these old emotions in a more neutral way.

THE IEMT therapy is suitable for:

  • Stress reduction
  • Loss processing
  • Prevention burnout
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma treatment, PTSD
  • Personality development

Where EMDR also works with eye movements, IEMT has been developed around patterns of chronicity that turn emotional issues into chronic problems. Therefore, people who already know EMDR can develop further with IEMT.

IEMT works directly with the emotional system. From a problematic feeling in the present, questions lead to the core of the problem. This is the moment when someone has learned to feel or be like that. By applying eye movements to this memory, the brain exercises to look more broadly at it. It results in more distance, the memory becomes vague, and the emotional charge disappears. Memory thus becomes passive and no longer has any influence on the present. The brain has learned to feel different or to be different.

IEMT has a post-traumatic stress protocol that may be more convenient for the client as the content of the events or memories don't need to be discussed. With the feelings and images that someone suffers from, you can work quickly and effectively. The client does not have to revive the entire experience.

The identity level can be worked on: Identity parts that have stopped in development can process what is keeping them small.

You can work with the self-image: beliefs like 'I'm not good enough, I'm a null, I'm weak, I'm stupid' can be neutralized.

Further insights can be gained from the Metaphors of Movement methodology.

My personal experience with these methodologies, combined with my calm, intuitive, respectful insight, enable me to sense where you are struggling and to support your growth. My insight was gained during many years of personal development that brought me from years of depression to a joyful, enriched life.My personal experience includes stopping emotional dissociation, healing depression, curbing old patterns of behavior and changing incorrect convictions and mistrust.

My experience with supporting others in their growth is as yet limited. However, I have supported a few people who were diagnosed with mysophonia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID, formerly known as Dissociative Identity Disorder). Due to my limited experience, I recommend clients with more complex issues to use my support in conjunction with other professional therapy.
